Palazzo Monti is glad to present Ghostwriting Paul Thek: Time Capsules and Reliquaries, an exhibition by artist Alessandro Di Pietro, curated by Peter Benson Miller and Cornelia Mattiacci. The opening will be held at Palazzo Monti, Piazza Tebaldo Brusato 22, 2512 Brescia (Italy) on Saturday November 25, 6–9pm. The exhibition will be on view through Friday January 26, 2024. To visit after the opening, please book your free appointment at ciao [at] palazzomonti.org.

Ghostwriting Paul Thek: Time Capsules and Reliquaries includes a series of new sculptures, a new painting and a film by Alessandro Di Pietro in dialogue with the life and work of American artist Paul Thek (1933–88). During a residency at the American Academy in Rome in 2017, Di Pietro began imagining a scenario in which Thek did not die prematurely, employing speculative fiction to conceive what the artist’s work might look like today.

The exhibition has travelled to the Watermill Center (New York, USA) and CAN Centre d’art Neuchâtel (Switzerland). The final venue is the Fondazione Nicola Del Roscio, Rome, February–April, 2024.

The book Ghostwriting Paul Thek: Time Capsules and Reliquaries, conceived by Di Pietro and edited by Miller and Mattiacci,  will be published in Spring 2024 by Mousse.

The full project is presented by Palazzo Monti and supported by the Italian Council (2022), Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity, Italian Ministry of Culture. Watermill Center is the international partner of the project; in 2024 the artworks by Alessandro Di Pietro will enter the public collection of Museo Madre in Naples.

Cultural partners: CAN Centre d’art Neuchâtel, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Fondazione Nicola Del Roscio, Accademia di Belle Arti di Urbino and Museo Madre.

Team members: Paola Clerico, Ginevra D’oria, Pietro Gatto, Cornelia Mattiacci, Peter Benson Miller and Edoardo Monti.

The film Race of a Hippie is directed by Alessandro Di Pietro feat. No Text Azienda.
